I have always been a tinkerer, a dreamer, a draftsman, a sketcher, a creative jack-of-all-trades. When people ask me what I do, I often say ‘Art Director’ and then I say ‘slash production designer, slash set dresser, slash clothing stylist, slash and much more’. I don’t quite fit into one box. I once started as a freelance photographer, then I started working more as an interior stylist and slowly but surely I started doing more and more styling jobs for photography and film shoots.
My style can best be described as ‘un-Dutch with a sharp edge’. I like very dark sets for fiction work as well as very colorful styling for fashion shoots or commercials, for example. Sometimes I actually work as an overarching Art Director and manage the clothing stylists, the set dressers or the set builders, but for other shoots I do many of those things myself.
I have a nice studio in The Hague and regularly work for production houses and independent photographers and directors. I especially enjoy working on various projects, each of which offers something special. I always create mood boards in advance and really work together with my client to achieve the best possible result.
So if you have a nice shoot or a nice production, I am happy to do the art direction and/or styling.
